Travel Diaries // 11 Things To Do In Prague

Prague is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. The gothic architecture and cobbled streets in Old Town nicely juxtapose the hustle and bustle of the modern New Town. It's the perfect place for your next city break.

Thinking about booking tickets to Prague this summer? Here's my list of things you have to do while you're there...

1. Walk over Charles Bridge

Yes, the bridge is a tourist trap and is always heaving with people - but it's still a must see. You have to walk over it at least once, then cross one of the less crowded bridges on the way back. If crowds really aren't your thing, head up the Old Town Bridge Tower to take it all in from above.

2. Snap pictures at the Lennon Wall

A wall of graffiti inspired by John Lennon, featuring lyrics from songs by The Beatles. People are painting over it daily so there's always something new to see. Take a pen with you and add your name, letting the world know you woz 'ere.

3. Explore Old Town Square

Watch the Astronomical Clock show, which chimes every hour on the hour, then head up the Old Town Hall Tower for incredible views over the square. The sea of terracotta rooftops and the gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn make it the picture perfect postcard scene.

4. Get a box at the opera

Never been to the opera? It's certainly an experience! Tickets in Prague are really reasonably priced so why not book a private box for two? Not something I'd ever think of doing at home but it was cool to give it a try without spending a tonne of cash. We caught Don Giovanni at the very beautiful Estates Opera Theatre.

5. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral

This stunning cathedral sits within the grounds of Prague Castle. There's a pretty steep hill up to this area, but it's so worth it! On the way up we stopped at a restaurant for a little rest and refuel...

6. Enjoy a rooftop vegan lunch

The walk up to Prague Castle was steep. So we stopped for a mid-way rest at Vegan's Prague - a vegan restaurant with a small terrace that overlooks the city below. With the warm sun on our faces, gorgeous views, and the most delicious burgers I've ever tasted, this stop is one of our fondest memories of our time in Prague. We enjoyed it so much, we tackled the hill again for lunch a few days later!

7. Walk down the narrowest street in Prague

Yep, this street is so narrow it needs a traffic light system so there isn't a blockage. Much cute!

8. Try Absinthe at an Absintherie

If there's ever a time to meet the green fairy, it's at one of Prague's many Absintheries.

9. Take in the city-wide views from Petřín Tower

Catch the funicular to the top of Petřín Hill where you'll find the 63.5 metre steel lookout tower. From here you can enjoy 360-degree breath-taking views across the whole city and the Vltava river.

10. Taste Czech beer at the Prague Beer Museum

The Prague Beer Museum has 30 Czech craft beers on tap, and a whole range of flavours to try. Grab a table in the sun-trap garden, order a flight and taste some deliciously unique Czech beers.

11. Relax in a beer bath

Possibly the most unique thing I've ever done, anywhere. If all the beer at Prague Beer Museum doesn't completely bloat you, book yourself a private session at the Bernard Beer Spa where you'll be treated to a tub filled with beer hops - which is apparently really good for your skin! The tub comes complete with a tap so you can pour yourself unlimited glasses of Bernard beer while you soak. So cool! The session lasts 30 minutes and ends with another 30 minutes relaxing in a heated bed. You'll leave with a beer spa certificate and a free bottle of beer to take away with you. While it's not the cheapest thing to do, it's worth every penny - even if, like me, you're not the biggest beer drinker!

There's so much to see and do in Prague - far more than this post includes, in fact! If you are heading to Prague soon then I know you'll have the most incredible time - there's so much history and scenery, and plenty of unique things to do. Let me know if you plan to check off any of these must dos!
