6 Things To do In Bristol

Bristol was never high on my list of must-visit cities but after my first trip this summer to celebrate Matt's birthday, it's now one of my favourites. With the architecture of Bath and the vibe of Brighton, it's a must. If you're looking for your next staycation, check out my Bristol bucketlist...

1. Clifton Suspension Bridge

Catch a bus up to Clifton and walk across the bridge, stopping to take a gazillion photos of the views across the city. When you get to the other side you'll find beautiful panoramic views of the bridge itself. Pay the small entrance fee for Clifton Observatory and head down the tiny rickety staircases into the Giants Cave. This leads out to an opening in the side of the cliff where you'll find a face-on view of the bridge - the perfect photo opportunity.

2. Avon Gorge

Before you leave Clifton, stop to rest your feet and enjoy a glass of wine at the Avon Gorge Hotel. In the summer, sit out on the terrace which offers the best views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It's a real sun trap so allow yourself enough time to refresh and refuel before heading back towards town.

3. Banksy Art

Banksy is the most famous anonymous grafffiti artist and Bristol is littered with his original artwork. Keep an eye out as you explore the city and see if you can spot one or two of his pieces.

4. Bristol Harbour

Walk back through the city towards the harbour where you'll find the SS Great Britain and plenty of pubs and restaurants. If the weather is nice, grab a drink, find a seat on the river bank and dip your feet in the water, enjoying the view of those famous colourful houses.

5. Cabot Tower

Stop at Brandon Hill and make friends with the playful squirrels in the park before heading up Cabot Tower. It's free to climb the tower and it offers 360 degree views across the city. Simply a must on any Bristol bucketlist.

6. St Nicholas Market

In the heart of the old city, the market is worth a morning wander to find unique little treasures and local treats. Explore a little further and you'll discover lanes of boutique shops called the Christmas Steps!

Is there anything else you'd add to this list? I'd love to know so I'm prepared for my next trip!
